‘Don't Be a Sucker’ is a 1943 American anti-fascist propaganda short film produced by the United States War Department. The film follows an American Freemason named Mike, who listens to a street speaker ranting about minority groups. Initially agreeing with the speaker, Mike changes his mind when the man denounces Freemasons. A Hungarian refugee then explains how similar rhetoric led to the rise of fascism in Nazi Germany, warning that prejudice and division harm everyone. The film urges Americans to reject discrimination and unite against fascism. It was later reissued in 1947 and gained renewed attention after the 2017 Unite the Right rally.

Credits:
Director: Richard Collins
Producer: United States War Department
Starring: Paul Lukas, Felix Bressart, Bob Bailey, Kurt Kreuger
Narration: Lloyd Nolan

#DontBeASucker1943 #AntiFascistFilm #WorldWarII #PropagandaFilm
