Young swimmers lead as NCR dominates 65th Palarong Pambansa<br /><br />Fueling National Capital Region’s (NCR) dominance at the just concluded 65th Palarong Pambansa hosted by Ilocos Norte, elementary swimmers Titus Rafael Sia and Sophia Rose Garra, both 12 years old, emerge as the most bemedaled athletes with seven golds each. Sia made a seven-event sweep in the elementary boys division while Garra did the same in the distaff side. An incoming Grade 7 student at Xavier School San Juan, Sia topped the 400m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 200m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 100m freestyle, and 4x50m medley relay, and 4x50m freestyle relay events. He also set records in 200m freestyle (2:07.86), 100m backstroke (1:05.44), and 400m freestyle (4:31.39) events. Sia, an incoming Grade 7 student from De La Salle Araneta University, topped the girls 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 200m individual medley, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 4x50m medley relay, and 4x50m freestyle events.
