Kolkata, June 7, 2025 (ANI): On the COVID-19 situation in West Bengal, Dr. Sayan Mishra, Former Nodal Officer at ESI Maniktala, said, “Currently, West Bengal has a total of 622 active COVID-19 cases. In the past 24 hours, 26 new cases have been reported, while 88 patients have recovered and been discharged. Importantly, there have been no COVID-related deaths in the state so far. There's no need to panic, as this is a mutated variant of Omicron, which, although more transmissible, is not leading to severe illness or fatalities. Even in cases of infection, standard precautions such as wearing a mask for five days, maintaining seven days of isolation, using hand sanitiser, and keeping a six-foot distance while speaking to others are sufficient.”
