Visakhapatnam (AP) June 10, (ANI): Chief Manager at Visakh Refinery in Visakhapatnam YV Tarak, highlighted the engineering marvel of the refinery’s CDU4 and vacuum distillation columns. Standing atop the 80-meter-high CDU4 atmos column, Tarak described it as a 73-meter-tall, single-piece structure with an 8-meter diameter. The vacuum column, even wider at 12 meters, is among the largest ever transported in one piece. These units are crucial in refining crude oil into LPG, kerosene, diesel, and other products. Visakh Refinery, Chief Manager, YV Tarak said, "... We are standing on the top of the atmos column of CDU4. This is one of the highest locations. We are at around 80 meters elevation. If you see the wonder of this Atmos column CDU4, it was a single-piece column, 73 meters in height and 8 meters in diameter... And the vac column is 69 meters in height and 12 meters in width... It is one of the widest columns ever transferred as a single piece. We distil the crude, take out the basic products of LPG, kerosene and diesel. What is left at the bottom is further distilled in a vacuum distillation column to get vacuum..."
