“Monte Cristo” is a 1922 American silent drama film directed by Emmett J. Flynn, based on Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel “The Count of Monte Cristo”. The film follows Edmond Dantes, a young sailor falsely accused of treason and imprisoned in the notorious Château d’If. After years of captivity, he escapes and discovers a hidden treasure, using his newfound wealth to seek revenge on those who wronged him. John Gilbert stars as Edmond Dantes, delivering a compelling performance that captures both the character’s youthful innocence and his transformation into the vengeful Count. The film was long thought lost until a print was discovered in the Czech Republic, and it has since been restored and released on DVD.

Credits:
Director: Emmett J.
