Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is in the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC), expected to face trial in connection with his bloody war on drugs. <br /><br />His campaign while in office to clean up the Philippines from drug crime left thousands of mostly poor men, killed without trial. <br /><br />Duterte and his drug war were popular among many in the Philippines – and still are. In May, while sitting in ICC custody, Duterte was elected mayor of his home city. <br /><br />That support made it harder for victims’ families to fight for justice.
