Book on PH indigenous communities launched

A book exploring how colonialism, state policies, and migration theories have shaped and often misrepresented the concept of indigeneity in the Philippines is launched at the National Museum on June 18, 2025. 'More indigenous than we admit,' according to Kristine Mandigma, executive director of the Vibal Foundation—the book's publisher— shares that the book was 'a labor of commitment to indigenous communities and to deeper understandings of our national identity.' 'It is not only scholarly; it is also a deeply human book,' said Mandigma who praised the editors for producing the volume in record time. Through 18 essays divided into four thematic sections—colonial constructs and law, migration narratives, language and education, and indigenous landscapes—the volume calls attention to the need for more inclusive, critical, and community-grounded scholarship.

VIDEO BY ALLEN LIMOS

Subscribe to The Manila Times Channel - https://tmt.ph/YTSubscribe
Visit our website at https://www.manilatimes.net

Follow us:
Facebook - https://tmt.ph/facebook
Instagram - https://tmt.ph/instagram
Twitter - https://tmt.ph/twitter
DailyMotion - https://tmt.ph/dailymotion

Subscribe to our Digital Edition - https://tmt.ph/digital

Check out our Podcasts:
Spotify - https://tmt.ph/spotify
Apple Podcasts - https://tmt.ph/applepodcasts
Amazon Music - https://tmt.ph/amazonmusic
Deezer: https://tmt.ph/deezer
Stitcher: https://tmt.ph/stitcher
Tune In: https://tmt.ph/tunein

#themanilatimes
#tmtnews
#philippines
