A bronze statue of Mel Chevannes, the first African Caribbean person to become a councillor in Wolverhampton was unveiled at the city's art gallery

Mrs Chevannes served Graiseley ward for 11 years after being elected in 1981 and also chaired the social services committee.<br />The bust was unveiled on Sunday morning to mark Windrush Day in Wolverhampton
