John Armleder's Quicksand IV (2025) at Country SALTS in Bennwil (Switzerland) is a newly commissioned, site-specific large-scale work. Quicksand IV, the fourth iteration of John Armleder's ongoing installation series begun in the early 2010s, is tailored for Country SALTS, a former agricultural barn turned art space in Bennwil. Following previous editions in London (2013), Geneva (2019), and Brussels (2020), this immersive work features a constellation of objects arranged on industrial metal shelving. Despite appearing random, the arrangement follows a precise score devised by Armleder, inviting visitors to explore his eclectic cosmos.<br />The installation functions as a hybrid space—part storage unit, part Wunderkammer, part materials library, and part artist's museum. It showcases a diverse array of items, including remnants of past works, studio materials, found objects, plexiglass sheets, books, plastic toys, building materials, lights, vinyl records, decorative artefacts, car parts, and both real and artificial plants. <br /><br />Curated by Samuel Leuenberger and Yann Chateigné Tytelman, the exhibition runs until March 15, 2026.<br /><br />Country SALTS, Hof Strickmatt, Bennwil (Switzerland), June 15, 2025.
