A band of showery rain accompanied by a brisk breeze will creep its way northeastwards across most of the country this morning. The rain will start to clear however from the southwest by mid morning, and as it clears so should the cloud, leaving behind bright skies with plenty of sunshine. Most of the UK should then be rain free by the early afternoon, apart from a few fleeting showers in the west of Scotland.
