Thousands of shoes were laid out in Almere's city square to represent Palestinian children killed in Gaza.<br />It is the 12th memorial protest in the Netherlands commemorating the children. UNICEF estimates over 50,000 children have been killed or injured since the conflict began.<br />The war began when Hamas stormed into Israel on October 7 2023, killed 1,200 people, most of them civilians, and took 251 hostages back to Gaza.
