INDORE — In yet another shocking case of stray dog menace, a college student was attacked and severely injured by a pack of dogs while heading for her exam in Indore’s Shri Nagar Extension area on Saturday morning, July 12.

The incident occurred around 6:30 AM when the student, accompanied by a friend, was walking to college. Four stray dogs suddenly charged at her, knocking her down and biting her legs. CCTV footage shows the young woman attempting to scare the dogs away but being overpowered as they returned in a pack and dragged her to the ground.

A friend riding a scooter spotted the attack and intervened just in time to drive the dogs away. The student, visibly shaken and bleeding, sat on the road in shock until nearby residents Vishal and Shaifali Agrawal rushed her to their home and cleaned her wounds. “She was on her way to the exam and had deep wounds on her leg. She was terrified,” the couple told local media.

The student later left with her friend for medical treatment.

Residents of the area blamed the growing stray dog population on the open dumping of leftover food from neighbouring Sonia Gandhi Nagar. “People dump non-vegetarian leftovers here every night despite regular garbage collection,” a resident said, calling the area a hotspot for dog attacks.

Local resident Anand Bagora said they have lodged multiple complaints through the Indore Municipal Corporation’s 311 app, after which garbage is cleared, but the problem persists and the dog population keeps increasing.

Data from Government-run Hukumchand Hospital shows over 24,000 dog bite cases reported in Indore between January 1 and July 13, 2025. While most victims recover after anti-rabies treatment, residents have demanded stricter action from the municipal corporation to control the menace and penalise those dumping food irresponsibly.

#StrayDogAttack #IndoreNews #DogMenace #CCTVShock #StudentAttacked #UrbanWildlifeCrisis #ExamDayHorror #DogBitesSurge #IndoreCivicIssues #PublicSafetyFail
