This is a recording of the Memphis Police Department police radio dispatch activity the evening of April 4, 1968. The early portion of the recording captures the moment police learn that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot, the description of the shooter and his getaway car (a White Mustang), and the discovery of the murder weapon. The latter portion of the recording captures the false report of a chase of the shooter's White Mustang.
