We are getting started on film-making with black and white "retro film". We are trying out cameras and film stocks. This is our best so far.
"Fomapan 100 negative" Standard-8mm aka Double-8mm
DIY processing with "Rollei Supergrain" developer made up with water at 1+15
Developed for 8 min at 19 degC
This is a basic digitisation without any computer editing visual effects apart from "inverting" from negative to positive.
Most of the video editing work is in framing for presentation in a 16:9 format.

First up is the Crown 8 camera. This extends the image into the sprocket hole areas so I have used that for a kind of semi-widescreen attempt.
The Canon Zoom 8 produces a more standard standard-8 image giving a simpler "pillarbox" presentation.
We have attempted a little lip sync sound with the Crown 8 and a separate Tascam sound recorder. The film needed a speed correction of 8 percent to give an approximate fit.
That means that on trying to set the Crown to 18 fps we got something more like 16.5 fps.

More about us, the IAFilm Collective - (Independent Alternative Film) at:
https://iafilm.co.nz

Music credit:
"Carefree" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)
Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
