Bengaluru: A controversy erupted at Rameshwaram Café's Bengaluru airport outlet on Thursday morning after a group of customers alleged they found a worm in their dish. The video of the incident, showing a man pointing at a worm in his spoon and speaking of a complaint, has gone viral online.

The cafe staff immediately apologised and refunded ₹300. However, the restaurant has now claimed the entire scene was staged to extort ₹25 lakh and malign their brand.

In a statement issued Thursday evening, Rameshwaram Café called the allegation false and submitted call logs, message screenshots, and related evidence to the police, demanding legal action.

Founder Divya Raghav said, “We categorically deny the baseless accusation. This was a malicious attempt to damage our reputation. We maintain the highest hygiene standards, especially at airport locations.”

Notably, the chain had earlier faced scrutiny in May 2024 when expired items were found at its Hyderabad outlet.

#RameshwaramCafe #FoodControversy #ExtortionClaim #BengaluruNews #ViralVideo #PongalRow #FoodSafety #AirportDrama #WormOrFraud #BrandReputation
