Prosthetics center in conflict-hit Goma gives new hope to injured victims

A prosthetics center in Goma of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has been giving maimed victims another chance at life, as ongoing hostilities continue to cause serious injuries to civilians including women and children.

During the fighting in the eastern DRC, hundreds of people caught in the crossfire had to have limbs amputated as life-saving treatment.

It has now been three months since Venancienne Hitimana received her prosthetic limb. She had her leg amputated earlier this year after she was severely maimed during the seizure of Goma by the M23 rebel group.

Her new prosthetic makes walking much easier, which makes a big difference in running her business selling vegetables.

China Global Television Network (CGTN) / REUTERS

Subscribe to The Manila Times Channel - https://tmt.ph/YTSubscribe
Visit our website at https://www.manilatimes.net

Follow us:
Facebook - https://tmt.ph/facebook
Instagram - https://tmt.ph/instagram
Twitter - https://tmt.ph/twitter
DailyMotion - https://tmt.ph/dailymotion

Subscribe to our Digital Edition - https://tmt.ph/digital
Sign up to our newsletters: https://tmt.ph/newsletters

Check out our Podcasts:
Spotify - https://tmt.ph/spotify
Apple Podcasts - https://tmt.ph/applepodcasts
Amazon Music - https://tmt.ph/amazonmusic
Deezer: https://tmt.ph/deezer
Tune In: https://tmt.ph/tunein

#TheManilaTimes
#WorldNews
#Goma
