An Amber weather warning has been issued across Scotland today on Monday 4 August, as Storm Floris brings unusually strong winds from the Atlantic.<br /><br />The weather is expected to impact almost the entire country with 90mph winds.<br /><br />The Met Office has upgraded a previous yellow weather warning for strong winds to an Amber alert. <br /><br />Glaswegians are being told to expect a “danger to life”. <br /><br />The winds were said to have started at 6am and predicted until midnight, though a severe warning is in place between 10am and 10pm. <br /><br />Travelling is set for disruption with longer journey times on roads, and cancellations on public transport including buses, railways, air and ferries. <br /><br />A number of flights to and from Glasgow Airport have been cancelled, as have several train services.<br /><br />There is also a warning of possible power cuts and people are being advised to stay indoors as much as possible, and not walk or shelter close to buildings and trees. <br /><br />People are also being told to secure any loose items outside homes such as bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, sheds and fences.
