South Korea's defense minister announced his country's loudspeakers along the border with North Korea would be shut down by Friday to lower tensions. The olive branch overture was rejected by Pyongyang though. Both Koreas have used loudspeakers to blast propaganda over past decades, but Seoul restarted its recordings after Pyongyang started sending trash-bearing balloons across the border in 2024.
