Part 1 of 2 of the 1993 Xmas episode of The Generation Game. The contestants in this episode are Norma Gent & Andrew Blackmore from Manchester & Avon, Trixie & Murray Lee from London, John & Sonja James Salmon from Hertford & Bedford, and Harry Sanson & Julia Ross from Dorset. Bruce Forsyth hosts, assistant Rosemary Ford gets a fit of the giggles during mention of Carol Singing services to the elderly (you'll understand why when you see it), while the contestants are a game bunch, with one who stands out among the rest (literally), a saucy Bluecoat, a woman whose hubby slept through a Bruce Forsyth show (awkward) and one whose pal got caught short by a WW2 bomb! Among the games are playing in a Salvation Army Band, Xmas Cocktails (wonderfully farcical), Xmas Surprise (involving Bernie Clifton and being fitted into his bird puppet), then Guess the Xmas Carols via Mime (while still in their costumes). The finale is a spoof on Aladdin, which features guest appearances by Bob Holness and Little & Large (who are surprisingly amusing), while Rosemary is caught out by a change to one of the props from above. Interestingly Bob Holness mentions that Blockbusters is to return to the screen next April. However, that never happened as Blockbusters was axed soon after.
