Five people, including a teacher, two Assistant Development Officers, and a roadways driver, were killed on Friday when a tree fell on a Barabanki–Haidergarh roadways bus near Harkh intersection, Uttar Pradesh. Four of the deceased were women. One passenger is critically injured.<br /><br />Police said the accident occurred around 11 AM when the driver swerved to avoid an animal, hitting an electric pole and then a tree. The impact caused the tree to crash onto the bus, crushing its roof. The bus was carrying about 60 passengers.<br /><br />A video from the scene shows a trapped woman angrily telling a man filming, “We are dying and you are making videos… If you had helped remove the branch, we could have come out.”<br /><br />Rescue operations lasted over 90 minutes, with locals, police, and a bulldozer removing the tree.
