The whales can be seen breaching from the water in these photos and videos captured in Sydney, Australia. Ted Lamb, originally from the UK, went whale watching North of Sydney and saw more than just their amazing beaches. Ted said: “The breaches are for a few reasons. “The tail slapping could be for a few reasons. It generates a lot of sound, which is used to communicate with other whales in the area. “It’s also believed that sometimes the whales do it for fun, often rolling onto their backs and seeming to play in the water. “ If there is a lot of boat traffic around, it can also be considered as a way for the whale to let the boats know where they are to avoid any collisions. “They also potentially breach as a form of skin care. “The power of them hitting the water knocks off a lot of dead skin, parasites, and barnacles. "You often see the birds coming in for a free feed in the splash left behind by the whales after a breaching session. “I think Whale Watching is something that everyone who has the chance to do should go and try; you’ll get one of the best natural shows on the planet!” ENDS
