Medellin's flower parade blooms with tradition and pride in Colombia<br /><br />The Desfile de Silleteros took place in Colombia's Medellin on Sunday, August 10, marking its 68th edition as part of the Feria de las Flores.<br /><br />The event showcased the silletera tradition, with participants carrying flower arrangements on their backs, reflecting the historical practice of transporting goods from Santa Elena to the Plaza de Cisneros. <br /><br />The parade allowed spectators to view the floral creations, which have evolved over the years since their mid-20th-century beginnings.<br /><br />According to the city of Medellin, the parade included 540 silleteros and was organized into seven categories.<br /><br />The silleteros are recognized for their role in preserving Antioquian heritage.
