While investigating a villain known as the Whip, Max is hypnotized by his small and special Chinese gong to obey his every command at specific times. Max is eventually instructed to steal the NARCO 5–12, a powerful prototype weapon, from the Chief's safe. When the Chief confronts Max about the theft, he has no recollection of it.
