Homeless dogs, cats arrive in New York area to find 'fur-ever' homes<br /><br />A chartered plane touches down on the tarmac in Morristown, New Jersey, with over 120 cats and dogs hoping for a second chance at life on a cloudy morning on Aug. 20, 2025. The flight was part of a life-saving mission organized by Greater Good Charities and NBCUniversal Local as part of the 11th annual Clear the Shelters campaign, a nationwide initiative focused on pet adoption and animal welfare. The airlift transported animals from nine overcrowded shelters across Louisiana and Alabama to partner shelters in New Jersey and New Hampshire, where they now await adoption.
