Rescue efforts continue after landslide buries homes in Guinea<br /><br />Rescue teams backed by bulldozers and Red Cross volunteers continued searching through debris in Guinea's capital, as the death toll from a devastating landslide rose to 16 after heavy overnight rains triggered the collapse of a hillside that buried homes in the Manéah district.<br /><br />A Reuters witness observed Red Cross volunteers recovering a body from the rubble under army supervision, as grief-stricken residents looked on.<br /><br />Guinea, like much of West Africa, faces increasingly severe flooding and landslides during the May-to-October rainy season.
