Skeletal remains of some of the oldest human ancestors displayed for first time in Europe

A unique exhibition has opened in the Czech Republic's National Museum showcasing fossilized skeletal remains of an early human ancestor which are dated at more than 3-million-year-old.

Visitors to the museum will also be able to see models of the discovered Australopithecus afarensis, known as Lucy and Selam, as part of a 60-day loan from the National Museum of Ethiopia.

Lucy is estimated to be 3.2 million years old, while, Selam, a child Australopithecus afarensis, is believed to be approximately 150,000 years older than Lucy.

Lucy and Selam have never been on display in Europe before and are not available to the public in Ethiopia either. According to the museum, they have only previously been displayed publicly during a tour of the United States between 2007 and 2013.

REUTERS VIDEO

Subscribe to The Manila Times Channel - https://tmt.ph/YTSubscribe
Visit our website at https://www.manilatimes.net

Follow us:
Facebook - https://tmt.ph/facebook
Instagram - https://tmt.ph/instagram
Twitter - https://tmt.ph/twitter
DailyMotion - https://tmt.ph/dailymotion

Subscribe to our Digital Edition - https://tmt.ph/digital
Sign up to our newsletters: https://tmt.ph/newsletters

Check out our Podcasts:
Spotify - https://tmt.ph/spotify
Apple Podcasts - https://tmt.ph/applepodcasts
Amazon Music - https://tmt.ph/amazonmusic
Deezer: https://tmt.ph/deezer
Tune In: https://tmt.ph/tunein

#TheManilaTimes
#WorldNews
#Europe
