A horse dies and hospitalises two racegoers after crashing into barriers in a bank holiday tragedy

Two racegoers were taken to the hospital for treatment following an incident in which a horse crashed through barriers at Cartmel.<br /><br />Spectators at the racecourse, which included Tyson Fury, witnessed the incident in the third race of the day on Monday.<br /><br />Wbee, which was ridden by jockey Alan Doyle, was pulled up quickly after the second hurdle from the finish.<br /><br />Footage showed the moments leading up to the incident, which saw the 10-year-old horse trailing behind rivals.<br /><br />Cartmel Racecourse has confirmed that Wbee then suffered from a sudden heart-related condition, which led to the horse veering off the course.<br /><br />Doyle had attempted to regain control, but Wbee went through the barriers and into the crowd, hitting two members. <br /><br />Cartmel issued a statement confirming the incident and the death of Wbee.<br /><br />'Cartmel Racecourse can confirm that during the third race of our Bank Holiday meeting, the horse Wbee suffered a sudden heart-related condition immediately before the second-last hurdle and collapsed whilst racing. <br /><br />'This veterinary event, confirmed by the treating veterinary team, caused the horse to deviate from the course, where it came into contact with a group of spectators.<br /><br />'On-site medical teams responded immediately, and two people were taken to the hospital for further treatment. <br /><br />'Course officials remain in regular contact with the relevant authorities regarding their condition and will provide updates when appropriate, while ensuring their privacy.<br /><br />'The attending senior racecourse vet was in attendance in a matter of seconds, but sadly the horse Wbee passed away as he arrived.'<br /><br />The incident led to a one-hour delay to the bank holiday meeting, with the Cavendish Cup the main event.<br /><br />The meeting was attended by former heavyweight world champion Fury, who had two runners in the Big Gypsy King and Sea The Clouds on the course.<br /><br />Big Gypsy King finished fifth out of seven - but last of the finishers - in its race.<br /><br />Fury then saw Sea The Clouds pulled up in the early stages of the Cavendish Cup.
