BABY ELEPHANT GETS A HELPING HAND WITH PIX AND VID BY MIKEY JONES Watch as this baby elephant gets a helping hand to escape the slippery waterhole. The young elephant can be seen being helped by the other elephants. The moment was caught on camera in the Addo Elephant National Park in the Eastern Cape of South Africa by Anne Laing. Anne said: “It was an insane 36 degrees, and these elephants were desperate to cool off. “This baby elephant and a youngster were playing in the muddy water and just having fun. “The baby then decided to get out of the water- but slipped in the mud while doing so. “The older one was immediately really concerned and used his trunk to get the little one back onto his feet. “He also allowed the baby to use his body to push against, so he managed to get up on his feet again. “The youngster then guided the baby towards a safer exit- and even gave him a few gentle pushes to help him get out. “Only once the baby was safely out, did the youngster and other adults then get out, themselves. “The baby was full of confidence again- and then led the small herd away. “It shows the love, compassion, and caring elephants have for each other.” ENDS
