Floodwater ruins houses, crops in Pakistan’s Chiniot<br /><br />The Chenab River in high floods overflowed and entered villages located in Chiniot district in Punjab province, Pakistan, damaging houses and crops, the residents said on Saturday, August 30.<br /><br />Torrential monsoon rains ravaged neighboring India as well as Pakistan this week, with further heavy downpours forecast for this weekend.<br />On Friday, in eastern Pakistan, floodwaters hit the outskirts of the country’s second biggest city, Lahore, and threatened to submerge the major town of Jhang, in the worst flooding in almost 40 years in that part of the country.<br /><br />Villagers in Chiniot said the deluge had wrecked their livelihoods.
