The death toll from an earthquake that hit northeastern Afghanistan on Sunday night has surpassed 800 people. A majority of the deaths were in Kunar Province, where the remote, mountain terrain has cut off land access. Taliban officials said entire villages were destroyed, and that the death toll is likely to rise further.
