A sharp decline in foreign travel to the U.S. is being blamed on Trump’s immigration policies, tariffs, and new visa restrictions, according to Newsweek. The U.S. recorded 3 million fewer overseas visitors in the first seven months of 2025, with the steepest drop among Canadians, where car trips fell 37% and air travel 26% in July. The World Travel & Tourism Council projects a $12.5 billion loss in foreign visitor spending this year, making the U.S. the only major destination among 184 countries to see a decline. Tourism Economics forecasts an 8.2% drop in international arrivals for 2025, citing a severe sentiment shift. Beginning October 1, a new $250 “visa integrity fee” will push U.S. visa costs to $442, among the world’s highest.
