Choosing an HBCU turned out to be a personal and professional win for Tasia Bolling. While a student at Johnson C. Smith University, she was immersed in Black culture while also exposed to coding and career paths within IT. After participating in the BE Smart HBCU Hackathon--hosted by Black Enterprise and presented by American Airlines--she was then selected for an early-career development program (ADEPT) at American Airlines and is now a full-time staff member as an IT Applications Developer. Tasia discusses how she charted a tech career path from a student to a staffer, and offers advice to HBCU students who will participate in the upcoming Hackathon, which takes place Nov. 5-8 in Charlotte. Learn more and register by Sept. 15 at blackenterprise.com/hackathon.
