Taiwan People's Party founder Ko Wen-je has posted a bail of US$2 million, securing his release from detention. He had been detained incommunicado for a year while on trial for corruption and bribery charges related to a construction project during his tenure as Taipei mayor. He is required to wear a GPS-tracking ankle monitor and is prohibited from leaving the country.
