Alphabet-owned Waymo has obtained a permit to begin testing its robotaxi service at San Francisco International Airport, according to CNBC. The rollout will start with employee testing and human drivers on board before transitioning into a driverless ride-hailing service for Bay Area riders. Waymo operates in San Mateo County and San Francisco but lacks approval to transport passengers to or from San Francisco International Airport. The company received approval to operate at Phoenix Sky Harbor in 2022 and recently gained a permit to begin testing at San Jose Mineta International Airport. San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie recently allowed Waymo to run a limited passenger service on Market Street. Waymo’s general robotaxi service is available in Phoenix, the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Austin and Atlanta.
