STRANGER’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION HONOURS LATE FATHER
WITH VID
By Divij Mayer
This touching tribute shows how one woman turned her grief into a sweet moment.
Estrella Quiroz, 29, Co-founder and CEO of Last Farewells, from Miami, Florida, USA, wanted to honour her late father’s birthday in a unique and heartfelt way.
On September 4th, the day her father would have turned 62, she carried a cake and a handmade sign reading, “Is today your birthday?” determined to find someone to celebrate with instead of spending the day in sadness.
Just six minutes later Estrella met Gustavo, a man waiting at a bus stop, who saw her sign and spoke up. Incredibly, Gustavo was from Nicaragua, the same country as Estrella’s father and he was turning 60 that very day.
Estrella explains how years earlier, her father had collapsed at a bus stop in Nicaragua. Though strangers rushed to help, he tragically passed away.
The 29-year-old said her father’s death inspired her to launch Last Farewells, a service that helps people leave final messages to loved ones after they’re gone.
She says he continues to motivate her to celebrate life as much as possible, and this moment was proof of beauty emerging from pain.
The video resonated online with viewers all over the world feeling touched.
One stranger invited Estrella to her own father’s birthday next year.
One viewer wrote: “Divine intervention from the universe. Happy birthday to your papi.”
Another added: “This is sooo meant to be, a nod from your daddy. The sweetest thing.”
Estrella said: "My dad passed away, so on his birthday, I got a cake and a sign that said 'is today your birthday' and went out to find someone in Miami, FL. Within 6 minutes of searching I found a man named Gustavo who happened to be from the same country as my dad (Nicaragua).
"He said he saw the sign and spoke up. Gustavo turned 60 and my dad would have been 62. I also found him at a bus stop which is significant because my dad was at a bus stop in Nicaragua where he collapsed.
"So, to find a stranger close to my dad's age from the same country was truly fate. My dad's death is what inspired me to start my company last farewells, a platform to create last messages delivered after your passing. He also inspired me to celebrate as much as I can now thanks to this video,
"I have a stranger who has invited me to her dads birthday next year because he also was born on September 4th."
ENDS
