T-Mobile US named Srini Gopalan, its chief operating officer and longtime Deutsche Telekom executive, as its next chief executive, according to The Wall Street Journal. He will succeed Mike Sievert on November 1st, who transitions to vice chairman after leading the company since its 2020 Sprint merger. Gopalan has overseen T-Mobile’s daily operations since January and previously held senior roles at Deutsche Telekom, Bharti Airtel, Capital One, and Vodafone. Sievert will transition to vice chairman while continuing to shape T-Mobile’s strategy, noting he recruited Srini Gopalan with succession in mind. T-Mobile aims to extend its decade-long growth, boosted by its 2018 Sprint acquisition that expanded its spectrum and strengthened its network capacity and reliability.
