FREEDIVER GETS STUCK 72FT UNDERWATER INSIDE A SHIPWRECK<br />WITH VID<br />By Hannah Hodgetts<br />A daring freediver got stuck 72ft underwater on a shipwreck after her weight belt got trapped.<br />Elora Kooistra, 32, was diving in the waters of Bonaire, exploring a shipwreck she had been to many times before, both scuba diving or freediving. <br />The freediver wanted to capture the abandoned beauty and brought a light to film inside the engine room.<br />While carrying a friend’s lost fin between her legs, Elora took a slightly higher exit and her weight belt got caught.<br />Staying calm, she backed up, pushed down, and freed herself without panicking or dropping the belt.<br />Thanks to her experience and extra breath-hold time, Elora safely escaped and captured videos from the dive.<br />She said: “I was holding the fin between my legs so I took the exit a little higher than I usually do. <br />“My weight belt got stuck on the exit. I tried to pull free, I had to back up a bit and pushed down to free the weight. <br />“I did not stress. I didn’t push my limits on this dive so I had extra time to solve little problems like this. <br />“I stayed calm. I could have dropped the weight belt as well to get free but it wasn’t necessary."<br />ENDS
