Volunteers from around Taiwan flocked to the Hualien town Guangfu to aid recovery efforts during the long weekend. <br /><br /> <br /><br />Typhoon Ragasa’s torrential rain caused the Matai’an River barrier lake to overflow, leaving behind a wrecked Guangfu coated in thick mud. At least 18 people died, with over a 100 injured and seven people still missing. <br /><br /> <br /><br />Taiwan Railway says they transported more than 30,000 people to Guangfu on Saturday alone. During the weekend, these volunteers helped clear debris, shoveled mud, and distributed food to displaced residents. Some volunteers brought their own personal equipment to aid in the efforts. <br /><br /> <br /><br />#鏟子超人 also trended on Taiwanese social media.
