Residents in central Mexico cope with material losses after flooding<br /><br />Cleaning and drainage work started on Tuesday, September 30, to clear floodwater from streets in a Mexico City suburb after one of the heaviest rainfall events in decades.<br />Heavy rains on Saturday, September 27, caused damage and forced some residents to leave their homes in Nezahualcoyotl, in the State of Mexico, according to Mexican media reports.<br />Residents interviewed by Reuters described the losses they suffered after the water level reached about 1.1 meters.<br />Mayor Adolfo Cerqueda announced on X on Tuesday that authorities had begun house-by-house cleaning and disinfection work.
