GoPro footage shows dramatic moment near Dobropillia, Donetsk

A video released on war monitoring channels shows Russian soldiers hastily abandoning a Desertcross 1000-3 all-terrain vehicle moments before it was struck by a Ukrainian FPV drone. The incident occurred near Dobropillia, in the Donetsk region.

The footage, recorded by a GoPro camera mounted on one of the soldiers’ helmets, captured the panic as they realised the approach of the kamikaze drone. Seconds after leaving the vehicle, the unmanned aircraft slammed directly into the Desertcross, causing a powerful explosion.

The Desertcross 1000-3, manufactured in China, is a lightweight three-seat utility vehicle frequently used by Russian forces for rapid transport across difficult terrain. Its deployment on the Ukrainian front has intensified since 2023, making it a regular target for FPV drones due to its lack of armour.

The video quickly went viral on social media and Telegram channels linked to the conflict, with analysts describing it as another example of the transformative impact of drones on modern warfare.

Source and images: Telegram @United24media
