Freight Train — Just The Beginning 1971 (USA, Psychedelic, Blues Rock)

This Philadelphia band was formed in 1968 by Rick Shaffer. After numerous lineup changes, the album "Just The Beginning" was recorded in 1971. It's a collection of Chicago blues standards, rendered in the aggressive style of Paul Butterfield and the British blues style. The disc includes great works by Howlin' Wolf, Willie Dixon, T-Bone Walker, Sonny Boy Williamson, and Magic Sam. It also features the rare track "Rollin' Man" by British blues guitarist Peter Green. The band played a variety of venues, from outdoor festivals to university fetes, coffeehouses, and even opening for more established bands.
