At least seven patients died after a fire broke out in the ICU of Jaipur’s state-run Sawai Man Singh Hospital. The blaze, suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, erupted on the trauma centre’s second floor on Sunday night. Families alleged that hospital staff fled as smoke spread rapidly, destroying equipment, documents, and medical supplies.
