The presidential candidate of Cameroon’s National Salvation Front, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, urged President Paul Biya to be 'fair' and 'accept' the outcome of the country’s upcoming election, as he addressed a rally in Douala on Sunday.

Footage shows enthusiastic crowds waving flags and displaying ID cards, signalling strong backing for Tchiroma’s campaign against the long-ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM).

“We are going to crush all the others, especially the CPDM candidate, because he is responsible for the situation we find ourselves in. I will never betray you,” Tchiroma told cheering supporters.

“My protection is God and the people of Cameroon. The people cannot demand change and then re-elect those responsible for the crisis. You must remain vigilant,” he added.

President Paul Biya, 92, announced in July that he would seek an eighth term, saying he was responding to 'numerous and insistent' calls to remain in office.

His decision has been met with widespread appeals for him to step aside, including from his 27-year-old daughter, Brenda Biya, who recently said on TikTok that her father has 'made too many people suffer' and urged Cameroonians to vote him out.

Follow us on:
WhatsApp cutt.ly/WhatsAppCFM
https://twitter.com/capitalfmkenya/
https://www.facebook.com/capitalfmkenya
https://www.instagram.com/capitalfmkenya

Subscribe to Capital FM News for More: https://goo.gl/um4AGk

98.4 Capital FM
93.0 Western Kenya
98.5 Nakuru and Nyeri
104.5 Malindi
102.7 Garissa
103.9 Meru
106.5 Kitui
104.9 Voi

#CapitalFmKenya #Cameroon #PresidentBiya
