A massive demonstration took place in Istanbul on Sunday as thousands gathered to demand an end to the Israeli military campaign in Gaza and express solidarity with the Palestinian people.<br /><br />Footage shows protesters marching through the city streets carrying Palestinian and Turkish flags.<br /><br />"I feel the sorrow in my heart that this genocide continues before the eyes of two billion Muslims and that Muslims are powerless in this matter," claimed one protester, Fatih Nur.<br /><br />"The people want this to stop, but the government doesn't do anything. And this is a heartbreaking thing," another protester, Hanin, alleged. "It's the least we can do to come here and just walk this and, and protest against what's happening there in Gaza, in Palestine. So free. Free Palestine," she continued.<br /><br />Turkey has also condemned what it calls 'genocide' in Gaza and halted all trade with Israel. Israel has strongly denied the allegation, while indirect talks on Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan will take place in Egypt next week.<br /><br />The Israel-Hamas war erupted on October 7, 2023, following Hamas attacks that killed 1,139 according to the Israeli side.
