An unusual incident involving a Ukrainian FPV drone and the Russian Buk-M1 surface-to-air missile system went viral this week on social media and among military analysts.

According to field reports, the drone — identified as a kamikaze-type attack model — landed directly on a 9A310M1 TELAR launcher vehicle belonging to the Buk-M1 system and followed its movement for about 15 kilometers while transmitting video footage to its Ukrainian operator.

During the ride, the drone filmed inside the Russian convoy until it was discovered by the soldiers on board, who reacted with surprise upon noticing the small “passenger” and began recording the scene with their own phones.

Videos circulating on Telegram channels linked to the war show the soldiers trying to remove the drone with a branch — unsuccessfully. Shortly afterward, the group abandoned the vehicle in a hurry, apparently after spotting another incoming UAV.

Analysts note that this is the second documented case of a Ukrainian drone successfully landing on a Russian air defense missile system, being used not only for reconnaissance but also to assist in target designation for subsequent strikes.

Source and images: X @OSINTWarfare | Telegram @CyberspecNews
