Farnham-based Kingfisher powerboat racing team wins British Formula 2 championship

The Farnham-based Kingfisher Fire and Security Powerboat Racing Team claimed a double victory in the third and final round of the Circuit Powerboat Association British Championship.<br />They competed in the Formula 2 and Formula 4 classes at Stewartby Powerboat Racing Cub in Bedfordshire on September 27 and 28.<br />In Formula 4, Kingfisher’s 20-year-old George Elmore, from Chatham in Kent, left himself with it all to do following a mishap in qualifying.<br />He clipped a turn buoy, meaning he started his first race at the back of the grid. But he went on win every one of his races over the weekend, securing first place in the event.<br />In Formula 2, Kingfisher’s team owner, manager and also driver - 55-year-old Ian Blacker from Reading - earned second place on the grid in qualifying. He cut his session short because of an engine misfire, leaving rival Steve Hoult free to claim pole.<br />Once it was fixed Ian claimed four straight heat wins to take top spot on the podium for the race weekend and become the 2025 British Formula 2 champion.
