Peru: José Jerí becomes interim president of the country

2025-10-10 29 Dailymotion

In Lima, José Jerí Oré, former head of the Peruvian Congress and member of the We Are Peru party, was sworn in as interim president following the removal of Dina Boluarte from office. Boluarte was voted out by Congress in the early hours of Friday. In accordance with Article 115 of the Constitution, and given the absence of vice presidents, the president of Congress assumes executive leadership. Jerí took office shortly after a motion of censure against the congressional board he chairs failed to pass. He becomes the third president of Peru’s current five-year term (2021–2026), following Pedro Castillo and Dina Boluarte.

#teleSUREnglish #PeruTransition #JoséJeríPresident #BoluarteRemoved #InterimLeadership #PoliticalCrisisPeru
