Those in the affordable housing and homelessness sector say the Northern Territory has the worst protections for renters in the country. Despite nearly 50 percent of Territorians renting, the NT lags behind on a number of key protections such as outlawing no-grounds evictions and biannual rent increases. As investors reap the rewards of high rental yields, tenants are calling for greater measures to be taken to ensure rental security.
