For educational purposes<br /><br />Made famous for its supersonic performance in the movie TOP GUN, the U.S. Navy's F-14 Tomcat is America's<br /><br />favorite jet fighter. The F-14 has also made real life headlines for its triumphant dogfights. against the Soviet built jet fighters of Muammar el-Qaddafi's Libyan Air Force.<br /><br />F-14s scored their first kills in 1981 when two Tomcats downed two attacking Libyan Sukhoi SU-22 fighters, Qaddafi challenged the F-14 again in 1989 when he ordered two MiG-23 Floggers to intercept patrolling Tomcats. <br /><br />After a twisting and turning six minute high speed duel, the Tomcats splashed the Floggers with Sidewinder and Sparrow missiles and the F-14 earned the honored title of "MiG Killer."<br /><br />Contains actual Department of Defense F-14 Gun Camera footage of MiG dogfight.
