Sharks — First Water 1973 (UK, Hard, Blues Rock)<br /><br />A British band formed in November 1972 by former Free member Andy Fraser, during his second and final departure from the band, vocalist Steve "Snips" Parsons, guitarist Chris Spedding, and American drummer Marty Simon. The new band signed with Island Records and received favorable reviews from critics, particularly for guitarist Chris Spedding. In early 1973, they toured the UK and appeared on the BBC Two program "Old Grey Whistle Test." The band had their own car, the "Sharkmobile," an old Cadillac with a grille stylized as shark teeth. On February 19, 1973, while returning to London from a concert in Cleethorpes, the car skidded and crashed into a tree. Fraser injured his wrist and, while recovering, considered joining another band. The tour continued until the end of April, but Fraser experienced some difficulties due to the injury. The band's debut album, "First Water," was released in April 1973. Shortly thereafter, Fraser left the band, and a search for a replacement began.
